When it comes to Jolly Phonics, I feel like I have a secret that I must share with everyone. You see, I have a 4yr. old daughter myself and after attending your workshop I thought, “There’s not a better place to start”. Within 3 months of using the program she could identify almost all 42 sounds and she can already segment and blend a number of three and four letter words. I would not have believed it was possible. I have 12 years of teaching experience and have never been so intrigued with a program as I am with Jolly Phonics.

As a teacher who had previously worked with four- and five-year olds using various literacy techniques, I was skeptical about the success of the Jolly Phonics program with three-year olds. I thought, “Three year olds reading …really?” Well, I was absolutely blown away. The program was so easy to use and follow; the results were amazing! My group of three- and four-year olds were all successful at gaining the skill of reading. I can’t say enough about the program – I am a total Jolly Phonics convert.

We feel so very fortunate that our daughter was exposed to the Jolly Phonics program at such an impressionable age. Her interest in reading and discovering words everywhere in her environment has exploded; from books to street signs to newspaper captions. She is enthusiastic about reading and doesn’t show frustration, only determination to identify the thought being conveyed. It was without hesitation that her younger brother was enrolled in your Jolly Phonics program after seeing her awesome results.

Two of my children learned to read and write using Jolly Phonics. Both were sounding out three and four letter words by the age of four. Jolly Phonics is fun, inexpensive and easy to use. It takes only a few minutes every day. More pre-schools and kindergartens should use (the program).

For years the school system has neglected the beginning reading process, instead schools started students mid-process. As a result reading competency is poor or compromised for most children, youth and a generation of adults. This is particularly true with ESL and Aboriginal students as English language mastery is generally lower for these students. I have seen this reversed in two different schools after each used the Jolly Phonics program as an introduction and foundation for the reading process. It is heart warming to see a student population plagued with illiteracy, or, far below grade level; gain reading skills and transferable competency.
Jolly Phonics provides a sound and necessary foundation for the reading process. Beyond this there is a complimentary beginning writing program that solidifies this learning. While many new reading programs are truly no more than adaptations of what has failed our students in the recent past, Jolly Phonics is different; yet based on traditional approaches that have proven to be successful. After being a Principal for both Provincial and First Nations schools, I strongly recommend Jolly Phonics as a first and critical reading program for all students.

I would like to express a heartfelt “Thank you”, for the introduction to Jolly Phonics. I am a Mum and an educator and Jolly Phonics has helped me immensely in both of my jobs.
At school, I so appreciate the common language on our staff and in our classroom. In my role as a Grade 4/5 teacher, it makes the job of coaching students so easy if all one has to do is perform an action to remind them of a sound. My students’ writing is better because they are more likely to take risks with sounding out words they don’t know and use grammar that previously was out of reach. Almost all of my students are exceeding expectations for reading.
At home, at ages 6 and 4, my children are younger than my students. Jolly Phonics has given my kids the gift of language, We started with Joly Stories and haven’t looked back! Ben and Addilyn are now just about finished Phonics (Student) Book 2. They are confidently writing multiple sentences and spelling most words correctly in dictations. My son is reading level 14 books and my four-year-old is at level 8! Best of all, this has not been a chore. Working through the Jolly Phonics program has been straightforward and fun for my children.
Finally, I am very grateful for the anchor that Jolly Phonics provides during the pandemic, both at home and in my virtual classroom. There is enough variety in the Program to not be boring and enough repetition to provide routine. The familiarity of the Program is a welcome bit of normalcy during these times.
